Who’re you reading?
I’m a journalist but in a previous life, I was a cop in London. My existence was missing persons, domestic violence and human trafficking investigations. I ended up as an intelligence officer in the modern slavery team - tracking sex work adverts, visiting brothels and car washes. Trying to help people in the worst of possible situations. Successes were rare, but they were worth the effort.
The time came to move on, as the news grew darker, as tanks rolled into Europe again and I saw the world becoming more and more dangerous for democracy.
I couldn’t stay in my post. As a cop, I was restricted from making by political opinions public by British law. So, I resigned, got my NCTJ and set out as a freelance journalist. As I write this, I’m on the train to Kyiv.
What’s this all about then?
Part diary, part stream of thought, focusing on crime at home, crimes abroad and trying to add my voice to the ranks of those fighting back against the retreat of democracy and human decency.
What kind of place is this?
If you’re interested in the wars against democracy. If you want to hang out and discuss it or if you want to help me pay my rent!
I’m going to be posting a lot when I am 'somewhere’ or when ‘something’ is happening. When It’s all a bit silly you can expect a daily update. When things are ticking over then there’ll be twice weekly posts of varying lengths.
Subscribing gets you access to all this, a space to talk and the warm, fuzzy feeling that comes with supporting freedom and democracy.
